Probably my favorite track of Common’s new album. I heard Celebrate first and was iffy about the whole album, but my God this track is fire. And I’d expect no less from No I.D. on the beat.

Interesting fact about this song: Jill Scott wrote the chorus to this song but didn’t want to perform it, so they then got Musiq Soulchild to sing it. Musiq’s manager ended up deciding against it because he was just about to drop Juslisten and go on tour with it, and he didn’t want to take away from that album. So then they’re back to having no one to sing it, and finally ended up with Erykah Badu. But if you check out The Roots’ Homegrown! The Beginner’s Guide to Understanding The Roots album, you’ll hear a version with Jill Scott on the hook. A very subtle, but pleasant difference.
It actually is a song. It’s a beautiful song from Nicholas Thorburn, who’s about to release an album via ANTI-. His release is scheduled for February 14th, 2012, which means that Canadian men can rejoice, because Nick’s a British Columbian artist, folks. Heck, maybe he’ll even play in Vancouver and you can take your girl to his show to win brownie points while listening to some seriously solid music. This guy put together a side project with Michael Cera last year that you should hunt down.
I love everything Adventure Club remixes. It’s smooth dubstep, rather than that “Let’s just fill the song with the heaviest cluttered sounds”. I mean, I like Skrillex, but he is one of the worst offenders. Clutters it so much where it’s not even a song anymore.
